This image should show you why my method of painting figures works. Look at the driver leaning out of his cab. His jacket is full of really dark, virtually black, shadows. It is these shadows that a routinely painted model figure lacks. To make our small model driver photograph, and therefore look, like the real one his small, insignificant real life shadows have to be accentuated.
The real life image was taken at Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in the North of England several years ago. The driver is waiting for me to climb onto the footplate of his Black Five for a ride to Grosmount at the other end of the line. That was quite a thrill I can tell you.
Now you can either return to HOME or plunge on into FIGURES to start your journey through the figure painting part of my site.
